TSX Group Inc. Expands Fixed Income Index Business in Australia
Forms Alliance in Australia for PC Bond Analytics
TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - TSX Group Inc. announced today the expansion ofits PC-Bond fixed income business.PC Bond has partnered with Bond Index Systems Pty Ltd. of Melbourne toinclude Australian fixed income data (including Australia's first multi-dealerfixed income index) in the PC-Bond analytics platform which will bedistributed by Bond Index Systems in Australia. AFMA Services Pty Ltd. willprovide the Australian fixed income data, including multi-dealer blendedprices and indices. PC Bond will provide its analytics software platformincluding its related business methodologies and database model. The data setin the PC-Bond analytics platform will now include both Canadian andAustralian fixed income data.
TSX Group CEO Richard Nesbitt said this alliance fits well with TSXGroup's strategy. "Our stated intention is to diversify beyond Canada andbeyond equities into various asset classes, including fixed income data andindices. This initiative will allow the Australian market to benefit from thesame successful model deployed in Canada."
PC-Bond publishes indices to measure the performance of the Canadianfixed income market with data back to 1947. The PC-Bond indices are the mostwidely used fixed income performance benchmarks in Canada. The best known ofthese indices is the Universe Bond Index, which tracks the broad Canadian bondmarket. In addition to the Universe, PC-Bond publishes a variety ofsub-indices for different term and credit sectors, as well as indices fortracking other segments of the market, including High Yield, Euro, Maples,Yankee bonds, inflation-indexed Real Return Bonds, T-Bills, and residentialand commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities.
