Opsens announces an order from a European medical customer
This additional recognition follows the March 22, 2007 and August 13,2007 press releases. This order is the first phase in a two-year supplyagreement between the company's European distributor and the global leader inmedical technology. The new order meets short term customer needs and islikely to generate additional orders in future.
"The customer's appreciation of the LifeSens miniature version validatesOpsens' strategy to attack the medical device market. Opsens' OEM signalconditioners and the 0.4 mm miniature optical pressure sensors meet ourclients' needs not only in system accuracy, but also in size and in cost. Inaddition, Opsens continues to increase its high-potential customer list withinthe medical industry," said Claude Belleville, vice-president of the medicalsector at Opsens.
Opsens' miniature pressure sensor permits the reduction of catheter sizewhich represents a considerable advantage over conventional systems. With thissize reduction ability, the sensor allows for less invasive catheterizationpractices, makes once impossible, practices possible, provides extendedcapabilities for new applications, and at the same time delivers high fidelitypressure measurement. The advantages inherent to optical sensors, such as theimmunity to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and radiofrequency interference(RFI), make it the only sensor safe for magnetic resonance and electro-surgeryenvironments which are increasingly used in medical practices. The single-useoptical pressure sensor will also create recurring revenue in the medicalindustry.
