Sears Canada Announces Start of "Stronger Dollar - Lower Prices" Sears Days

TORONTO, Nov. 22 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. (TSX: - ) announced todaythat it is launching a "Stronger Dollar - Lower Prices" promotion forCanadians during the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. Sears Days, one of the mostanticipated sales of the season, begins Friday, November 23rd, and, for thefirst time, contains many items specially identified with the "Stronger Dollar- Lower Prices" icon which represent the value Canadians are seeking with theincreased strength of the Canadian dollar.

"This weekend is an enormous kick-start to the Holiday shopping season atSears Canada," said Dene Rogers, President and Chief Executive Officer, SearsCanada Inc. "Sears Days is always immensely popular with our customers, andthis year's Sears Days demonstrates to Canadians that Sears Canada is loweringprices so they do not have to go to the U.S. for big-spend items such aselectronics. We believe that Canadians would rather shop at home which helpsthe Canadian economy and makes Canada stronger."

Sears also is also announcing the opening today of a specialized BorderOutlet store, located in the Windsor Crossing Premier Outlets, located at1555 Talbot Road, Windsor, Ontario. This store will sell national brandapparel and accessories including names such as Nike, Nine West and Columbia.There will also be a selection of major appliances and home electronics pricedto compete with retail prices in the U.S. "Sears is serious about offering abetter option than shopping in the U.S.," continued Mr. Rogers, "and this newoutlet store located near the U.S. border in Windsor is another way we areresponding to Canadians and working to meet their expectations because of thehigher value of the Canadian dollar."
