As part of thisDAN event, justprior to the game at home plate, the EP Maxwell J. SchleiferDistinguishedService Award will be presented to Himanshu P. Upadhyaya,M.D., for hiswork, life and advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities.The award ispresented by EP Global Communications, Inc. and EP FoundationforEducation. DAN is a national program intended to increase awarenessand support forthe 54.6 million Americans classified as having some formof intellectualor physical disability in the United States. The DAN Program,which nowencompasses both Major League and Minor League baseballvenues, issupported by Shire Pharmaceuticals. In addition to raisingawareness, theDAN event provides an opportunity for many clients and staffof localdisability organizations to attend the ballgame, thanksto free ticketsdonated by EP and Shire Pharmaceuticals.
