Gov. Perry Announces $1 Million Enterprise Fund Grant to Authentix

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gov. Rick Perry today announced a $1 million Texas Enterprise Fund(TEF) grant to Authentix Inc. as part of state and local efforts tosecure the company's expansion and relocation of its research anddevelopment facility from Douglassville, Pa., to Addison, Texas. Thisinvestment is projected to generate $6.5 million in capital investmentand will create approximately 120 new jobs during the next five years.

"The Texas Enterprise Fund continues to be the most successfuldeal-closing fund in the nation, and this investment in Authentix willcreate new jobs for scientists, engineers and technicians, and benefitthe local economy," Perry said. "Today's announcement is yet anothersign that Texas remains one of the world's premiere places to dobusiness."

Headquartered in Addison, Authentix is a leader in the globalfight against counterfeiting and smuggling. The company utilizesnanoscale engineering to authenticate, track and tracepharmaceuticals, fuel, banknotes, tobacco, spirits, personal careproducts and agrochemicals.

In addition to the $1 million TEF award, the Town of Addison alsoassisted in Authentix's relocation.

The legislature, at Perry's request, created the TEF in 2003 andre-appropriated it in 2005 and 2007 to help bring new jobs to Texas.To date, the TEF has closed the deal on projects generating more than45,000 new jobs and $15 billion in capital investment in the state.
