Drilling rig days for the month of October 2007 were 229 producing a rigutilization rate of 73.9%, a decrease from 87.4% in the prior month and anincrease from 67.7% in the same month in 2006.
Basic also increased its fluid service truck fleet by a net of one truckbringing its total to 667 trucks as of October 31, 2007.
Ken Huseman, Basic's President and Chief Executive Officer, stated,"October was the first month in quite a while that wasn't affected by weatherand/or a holiday giving us a clearer view of the current demand for ourservices. As stated in previous monthly updates, demand remains strong in theoil markets but has declined in gas markets due to reduced drilling and fracactivity. New equipment or relocation of equipment from gas markets to oilmarkets has balanced supply and demand for the time being. Even with recordoil prices, we expect to see a seasonal reduction in utilization over the nextfew months from the level produced in October as daylight hours decrease, inclement weather comes into play and customers reduce activity over theholiday period."
