Velardo Named COO of MGM Joint Venture

Velardo, 53, was previously president and COO of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. He was also president and chief executive of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority from 1996 to 2006.
Velardo will be based in Las Vegas and report directly to the joint venture's board, the companies said.
The Las Vegas project is targeted to open in 2012.
Shares of MGM Mirage added 11 cents to $87.71.
