AmEx Sets CFO's Salary at $625,000

Henry was appointed to the post last month, having served as the financial-services company's interim CFO since February. His base salary was $370,000, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The New York-based company also granted Henry 95,000 stock options with an exercise price of $60.95 each. The options vest in equal installments on the grant anniversary date over four years, and expire Oct. 31, 2017.

American Express also increased the potential payout Henry may receive under a 2007-2009 performance grant, payable in February 2010. The potential award amount now ranges from a $169,675 "threshold" to a maximum of $2.36 million, based on the company's performance, according to the SEC filing.

Shares of American Express closed Tuesday at $58.57, up 40 cents.
