Sony Ericsson President Stepping Down
Hideki Komiyama, currently chairman of the board of Sony Electronics Inc., USA, and EVP Electronics Marketing and Sales Strategies of Sony Corp., Japan, will succeed as president on Nov. 1, the company said.
Flint will continue as an adviser to Komiyama until the end of the year.
"After nearly 17 years in Sony and Sony Ericsson, I wish to develop new personal and business opportunities and intend to take a short career break before deciding on my next steps," said Flint, who joined Sony Ericsson three years ago.
Sony Ericsson, the London-based mobile handset maker, was founded in 2001 as a joint venture of Telefon AB LM Ericsson and Sony Corp. In the three months to June 30, Sony Ericsson gained 3 percentage points to take its market share above 9 percent, shipping 24.9 million units.
